Robert Breckon – Lance Corporal 14008

Robert was born in 1896 in Garforth.

His mother and father had 9 children 6 of whom survived.
In 1901 they lived at 54 Newhold in Garforth; by 1911 the had moved to 8 Hilderthorpe Terrace, Garforth, (Located on Lidgett Lane) and 14 year old Robert was a Pit Pony Driver.
He enlisted with 6th Battalion Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry.
Robert was Killed in Action 16th December 1917 and is Commemorated at

Mother – Maud Ada B (nee Abel). Born 1873 in Strensall – Married 15th April 1895 at Garforth Parish Church, Maud’s Father, Edward Abel was a farmer living Garforth. At marriage date Thomas was a miner and his father -Robert was a Joiner – Had 9 children 6 of whom survived.
Robert Edward B. Born in 1896 in Garforth Lived at 54 Newhold in 1901 aged 4, This was next door to Harry Fryer aged 8 at no 53

Sister – Sarah Emily B. Born 1899 in Garforth
In 1911 family lived at 8 Hilderthorpe Terrace Garforth ( located on Lidgett Lane)

Robert was a friend of Joseph Gee serving close to each other during the War
